Let's get it going in Cork

Hi all, we are trying to get together a few Big Lunch events through Cork Food Web. One on the South side is well on the way, we have two possible locations on the Northside in the pipeline... please join this group if you are interested in getting one together in your neighbourhood or helping with someone else's... http://www.thebiglunch.com/

Thanks Eimz, Pat and I have invited all the Turners Cross Growers, and we are putting up posters in our local shops and pubs, credit union etc. It feels to me like the first neighbourhood event in recent years where we can get to know each other, and also take the opportunity to spread the word about food, especially sowing, growing and cooking.
The Cork Food Web has been instrumental in networking for this.
I can't wait to meet everybody who turns up.

Hi all, just checking in to find out how things are going re big lunches around the city? just back myself from a weeks hols so im just getting up to speed myself. so we held a meeting for the BL in South Pres last night to dole out jobs. sorry i never got on to you margaret/pat, just got back at 4 yesterday so i only realised the meeting was on a half hour before it started. if you want to help out sunday morning we will be starting to get set up around 9.30am. that goes for anyone else who wants to help out. :D
so just to keep you updated.. well..'talk about from little seeds'!..my god, its kinda morphed into something mad altogether and together with Patricia's brilliants efforts, the effort of the local community and the support of local businesses and musicians etc it seems to be turning into more of a community festival than the street party idea we all started with..a really pretty fabulous result on consideration. so great to see all the latent energy and ideas out there being given an outlet. its been a steep learning curve for all in terms of trying to organise and communicate with a large group of people of differing agendas and opinions but whats cool is the way in which the idea grew very organically (to give it a slightly more charming term than not-so-organised chaos) into what it wanted to become.. and hopefully all the efforts on everyones part will be worth it come sunday at 1. ahh..fingers crossed...
im not sure if anyone is still organising lunches in their areas, but please keep sharing info with each other and advising of tips/ideas and any help thats needed..theres only a few days left but its still plenty of time to get something going..no matter on what scale.
regards
eimear

p.s we reworked the BL posters to make them more applicable to cork etc and put the cork food web under the BL logo, if anyone is interested or needs them, you could just erase the south pres logo and details on photoshop or something. maybe naomi could possibly do it if someone needs them? :)
