Hi finbarr, ah well, that'll teach me to check my emails more regularly.Ive just seen your comment and realised the brewing event is on tonight and ive missed the boat( stranded in cobh dont you know). Anyway just came back from a spot of foraging and made a sea beet and wild garlic stirfry.'Twas so free and really tasty!Such a nice contented 'man the hunter' or should I say 'woman the forager' feeling about it.
Enjoy the brewing demo(if you go) and let me know if anything else comes up.
Much obliged,
Sylvia
Hi Finbarr,
I just came across your comment on the allotment page .
I think its inspiring what you said about change of lifestyle and wanting to use your energy and skills in a new way. There are plenty of people out there who work hard, creating good spaces, growing food, having fun..etc and they are not waiting for someone else to change their lives for them.
Myself and my partner John started being involved at the Hollies out near Bandon 3 years ago. With the help of some other people we developed a food garden (on fairly marginal land) and we are now selling on the local market. We are doing this part time and we worked with limited resources and its been a great journey...We will be having a work party down there on sunday, the 29th of march ( I think). Its an interesting project , with one family house built entirely out of cob, newly planted woodlands, organic growing ( the website is www.theholliesonline.com ). The workday is like an open day , volunteers help out on the various projects going on, there will be free lunch... Just thought to let you know...if you are into getting some inspiration or want some tips on growing food in a sustainable manner, you are welcome any time.
Take care, Selvi
