"Hi John. The mites are not parasites, only hitch-hikers. They live off the debris and pollen in the nest, but because the nest is abandoned every autumn they have to over-winter on one of the hibernating single queens - which is what you've…"

Profile Information

Where do you live?
Shanakiel, Cork
Are there any skills or resources you would like to offer?
i keep chickens and grow lots of vegetables in a city housing estate if anyone wants to know about that, also do a bit of composting (wormery and tumbler) with relative success and ease, so happy to pass on my own experiences. I'm interested in (but new to) guerilla gardening so will help out if anyone is planning any projects too.
I've just completed a renewable energy course so can talk to people about setting up systems in their homes too.
Are there any skills or resources you need?
As above! But in particular I'm hoping to buy a few acres of farmland in the next year or two and move onto it, and would really appreciate any advice or experience anyone can give me about this complicated business!
